Our streaming service has been ipercast’s core expertise since 2001. This allows our clients to distribute their content all over the world and benefit from the best in terms of scalability (ability to deal with load increases), reliability, capacity and speed of delivery to end users.

Historically, streaming technology was designed to deliver multimedia streams based on a specific Web protocol (RTSP, RTP, MMS or RTMP). Streaming allows the user to read a multimedia stream on the fly, at a constant data transfer rate.
Streaming technology improves user experience (ability to move through the file using the scroll bar) and strengthens data protection (since nothing is actually downloaded on the computer).

Our streaming platform supports the main current formats as well as High Definition:Adobe Flash Video, Windows Media Video and Wowza.

Ipercast has also already put the Smooth Streaming technology into production for all clients who rely on the new Microsoft Silverlight/Playready solutions.
Smooth Streaming is a new video distribution technology based on http (HTTP Streaming), which allows for adapting stream quality according to connexion speed, with no interruption. It offers users a high-definition video experience (HDTV format / 1080p) with extensive interactivity, for both live and on-demand video delivery.
As with normal streaming (based on RTSP, RTP, MMS or RTMP protocols), video files are not actually stored on the user’s workstation.
